NHS policy on attendance and missed appointments
Help us to help you keep your NHS space.
- If you fail to attend your first NHS appointment, you won’t be seen again at the practice.
- Once you attend your first NHS exam, you will be asked to keep up your attendance record. If you do not attend at least one for an NHS appointment in an 18-month period, we may allocate your space to someone new to the area or looking to move to our practice.
- If you fail to attend on 2 occasions, or on 3 occasions give less than one full working day’s notice to cancel your NHS appointment, you will not be seen again at the practice. This is in any 24-month period.
- If you are on any benefits that entitle you to reduced NHS charges or exemption from charges, please bring proof of exemption every time. The NHS does make random checks and you may be fined if you incorrectly claim an exemption.
Thank you for helping us avoid wasted valuable surgery time that can be used for patients who are in pain.
